Purchase Expired Domain Names

a bit of assistance with domain name purchases?

so I cheked on whois and found the domain I wanted was to expire on may the 3rd.

does that mean may 3rd I can purchases the domain name?

i THINK it also says on there somewhere it is registered and parked.

what does this "parked" mean?

I want it. does it look like I can get it?
I can't tell its a secret
I wish I could explain, but it seems my entire life is dependent on obtaining it for this moment.

I recommend checking back early and often after the third, because some unscrupulous registrars feed expiring domains to squatters for kickbacks on the ransom. The squatters typically hold on to them for a month or so, and if nobody shows interest, then they let them drop back to the general pool of availability. That's why if you ever register a domain name, by all that's holy, be late on your taxes before being late on paying the registration fee or you'll never see your domain again.

You might check with some registrars who can camp the domain for a fee, and as soon as it's available, snag it up for you. I've never used such a service, but it might be a good idea for you.
